DeepL vs. 0CodeKit

DeepL vs. 0CodeKit

Being part of an international environment can be exhilarating at times. Why? Because where there is a lot of cultural diversity, there are also several opportunities to experience and learn new things. For example, new languages, dishes, customs, music, entertainment, and much more. However, this same diversity can have its challenges. What if you would like to learn about a certain culture but, for whatever reason, you cannot properly communicate with a person of this culture?

Luckily, translators were invented to solve this same problem. These tools have simplified and facilitated the interaction between people and businesses that don't speak the same language. Platforms nowadays can do much more than just translate a piece of text. Therefore, in this blog, we'll take a look at one of the biggest platforms for language translation and compare it with 0CodeKit.

DeepL

Since its launch in 2017, DeepL has taken the lead in the industry and gained over 10 million active users ever since. In particular, a recent survey has shown that DeepL is the most popular machine translation tool among language service companies (LSCs), with 82% of these companies using it. This number almost doubles compared to other big companies, like Google (46%), Microsoft (32%), and Amazon (17%).

Features

DeepL's main functionality is its user-friendly translator. Users only need to write or paste a piece of text or a file in the left square, and DeepL will automatically detect the language provided, or one can select a language from the 30 source languages listed. Then, we must choose one of the 33 target languages listed on the right square. Once we've chosen a language, DeepL will automatically translate it.

Furthermore, if users are unsure of what a word means, DeepL also offers two options: replacing the word with a synonym or looking the word up in a dictionary. This can be easily done by clicking on the unknown word. On one hand, for word alternatives, a menu will pop up when clicking on the word. On the other hand, the dictionary will appear below the source and target texts.

Another feature is DeepL Write, which, with the help of AI, can help users make sure that their source or target text is well written. We must input the desired text, DeepL will analyze it, and return a revised text. The corrections made by AI will appear in green on the right side.

0CodeKit

0CodeKit, on the other hand, is a general-purpose API with over 140 functionalities, ranging from AI and PDF to code, storage, and many more categories.

The "Translate text to a specific language" endpoint

This feature can be found in several automation platforms, such as Make, Zapier, n8n, Workato, and Integrately. First, we would have to log in or sign up for one of these platforms and create a scenario. Then, we have to look for the 0CodeKit module and afterwards the Translate a Text feature. The module will automatically ask to create a connection between 0CodeKit and the chosen automation platform, which will require 0CodeKit's API key.

Once the connection has been created, we have to enter the text that we want to translate, and we can choose between 141 languages to translate to. After the text has been translated, we click on "Okay" and execute the code. The API will process it and return the translated text.

The best part of using 0CodeKit is that all 0CodeKit endpoints can be integrated into any other platform. For example, we recently published a YouTube tutorial in which an email automation is built. This automation is triggered whenever an email in an unknown or unspoken language is received, and it automatically translates it.

0CodeKit's pricing

0CodeKit also offers 5 pricing plans: one free plan and four paid plans.
